From Beyond Capital Markets to Valerie Capital

Twelve years of building capital for small and emerging markets: from a fintech and impact-investment network to a dedicated fund manager.

  1. 2012–2015

    The groundwork

A 2012 study on consolidating indigenous banks with the ECCB; early fintech and blockchain awareness work in the Eastern Caribbean; SME and innovator training from 2015.

  2. 2014

    Beyond Capital Markets (BCM)

A fintech and impact-investment ecosystem co-founded by Valerie (Co-Founder and Governance Partner) with McKenzie Slaughter (Capital Partner). Its partners were Prohaus Group / Prohaus Capital, Quintessence Consulting and the InnovatetheNext (Inova) Foundation. It ran from St Kitts and Nevis and Los Angeles, across the Caribbean, Africa, the Pacific and the diaspora.

  3. Closed Nov 2020

    Prohaus Labs (co-founder, closed 2020)

A fintech incubator Valerie co-founded, linked to the Prohaus Group partnership in BCM.

  4. 2017–18

    BeyondX ICO for Impact Accelerator

A virtual accelerator teaching blockchain architecture, token economics, cybersecurity and regulatory readiness (Cohort 1 Nov 2017–Feb 2018; Cohort 2 Jul 2018).

  5. 2016–2023

ECCB Working Group on the Developments of the ECCU Payments System

Member, invited by the Deputy Governor in December 2016.

  6. Through BCM

    Ventures advised and backed

Osusu Labs (payments infrastructure, St Kitts and Nevis; founded by Valerie); FARMS AI (agri-data, Saint Lucia); SugarTown Organics (St Kitts and Nevis); Tulla Health (St Kitts and Nevis); Circular Feed (Nigeria); BitCadastre (land registry, Côte d’Ivoire); Agroplexi (farmer finance, Nigeria).

  7. Reach

    Ecosystem reach

About 1,000 active members, 200 investors, 120 countries, 8 sectors and 1M+ people reached.

  8. 2020

    Valerie Capital Ltd. (UK)
